Airport radars for Czech Ministry of Defence
26. 9. 2016
The Ministry of Defence & Armed Forces of the Czech Republic has chosen the Czech manufacturer of active radar systems, the company ELDIS Pardubice, as a supplier of new airport radars intended for operation at military airfields.
Each of the four sets consist of a primary surveillance radar RL-2000, monopulse secondary surveillance radar MSSR-1 and precision approach radar PAR-E. “We are very pleased that we can deliver the most advanced radar systems to the Ministry of Defence, because the currently used equipment RPL-5 / RPL-5M are already at the end of their service life. With this supply of radars, the MoD can provide continuity for the safety of air traffic in the airspace of the Czech Republic and surrounding areas,” said Zbyněk Sirůček, CTO of ELDIS Pardubice. The complete sets of radars shall ensure the operation of JAS-39 Gripen, L-159 ALCA, Mi-17 and Mi-24 helicopters and army transport planes at the airports in Čáslav, Náměšť upon Oslava, Pardubice and Praha-Kbely. It is possible to provide the radar information to the Czech civil ANS organisation. MoD press release (CZ)
